Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced the following flag officer assignments:
Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) John D. Butler is being assigned as program executive officer for submarines, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition. Butler is currently serving as deputy commander for undersea technology, SEA-93, commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, and commander, Naval Undersea Warfare Center.
Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) (selectee) William G. Timme is being assigned as deputy commander for undersea warfare, SEA-07, commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, and commander, Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Timme is currently serving as program manager, Undersea Weapons Program Office, and program executive officer for submarines, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition.
