RESERVE, NATIONAL GUARD UNITS CALLED UP - OCT. 22

An additional 950 members of the Naval Reserve are being called to active duty as part of the partial mobilization authorized by President Bush. This brings the total Naval Reserve called to active duty to 4,350 to date.

The majority of these Naval reservists have been recalled individually based on specific skills, primarily law enforcement and security. Other skills as part of the mobilization include medical, supply, intelligence and other specialties.

Also, an additional 307 Army reservists and Army National Guard members are also being called to active duty today. This brings the total Army reserve force soldiers called to active duty to 12,391 to date.

At any given time Services may mobilize some units and individuals while demobilizing others, making it is possible for these figures to either increase or decrease.

Total number currently called to active duty for the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 12,391; Naval Reserve, 4,350; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 12,722; Marine Corps Reserve, 333 and the Coast Guard Reserve 2,529. This brings the total Reserve and National Guard called to active duty to 32,325 from 279 units, 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and individual augmentees.
