Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Air Force Maj. Gen. Mark A. Welsh III has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as associate director of CIA for military support/associate director for military affairs, Central Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C. Welsh is currently serving as associate director for military support, Central Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C.
Navy Rear Adm. John M. Mateczun has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral while serving as commander, Joint Task Force National Capitol Region Medical, Washington, D.C.
