U.S. OFFICIALS RELEASE YUGOSLAV PRISONERS OF WAR
Today at approximately 8:30 a.m. (EDT) U.S. military officials turned over two Yugoslav former prisoners of war to Belgrade-based International Committee of the Red Cross officials at the border near Horgos, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. ICRC representatives also accompanied the former POWs from Germany to Horgos.
While in U.S. custody, the POWs were treated in accordance with the provisions of the 1949 Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
