Flag Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Navy Capt. Townsend G. Alexander has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Alexander is currently serving as Commanding Officer, Naval Air Station, North Island, Calif.

Navy Capt. David H. Buss has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Buss is currently serving as Commanding Officer, USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), Bremerton, Wash.

Navy Capt. Joseph F. Campbell has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Campbell is currently serving as Commanding Officer, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Va.

Navy Capt. Kendall L. Card has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Card is currently serving as Executive Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Northern Command, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Navy Capt. John N. Christenson has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Christenson is currently serving as Commanding Officer, Surface Warfare Officers School Command, Newport, R.I.

Navy Capt. Michael J. Connor has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Connor is currently serving as Assistant Deputy Director for Regional Operations, J33B, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Steven R. Eastburg has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Eastburg is currently serving as Deputy Program Executive Officer for ASWASM, Patuxent River, Md.

Navy Capt. Thomas J. Eccles has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Eccles is currently serving as Major Program Manager for Seawolf,  PEO Submarines, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. John Elnitsky II has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Elnitsky is currently serving as Major Program Manager for Undersea Mobility, PM 399, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Kenneth E. Floyd has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Floyd is currently serving as Chief of Staff to the Commander, Naval Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet, North Island, Calif.

Navy Capt. Philip H. Greene has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Greene is currently serving as Chief of Staff to the Commander, Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific, San Diego, Calif.

Navy Capt. Bruce E. Grooms has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Grooms is currently serving as Commandant, United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.

Navy Capt. James C. Grunewald has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Grunewald is currently serving as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Resources, Requirements and Assessments, N8, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Janice M. Hamby has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Hamby is currently serving as Director of Knowledge and Information Policy, Multi-National Force-Iraq.

Navy Capt. Edward S. Hebner has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Hebner is currently serving as Executive Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Michelle J. Howard has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Howard is currently serving as Deputy Director, Information, Planning, and Security, N3IPS1, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Arnold O. Lotring, Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Lotring is currently serving as Commander, Submarine Learning Center, Groton, Conn.

Navy Capt. James P. McManamon has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  McManamon is currently serving as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, Office of the Secretary of the Navy, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Thomas P. Meek has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Meek is currently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, N2, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Navy Capt. Joseph P. Mulloy has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half).  Mulloy is currently serving as Chief, Program and Budget Analysis , J8, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
