FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Navy Rear Adm. Michael L. Cowan for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as chief of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and surgeon general, Washington, D.C. Cowan is currently serving as deputy executive director, Tricare Management Activity, Falls Church, Va.
