Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Brig. Gen. John J. McCarthy for appointment to the grade of major general. McCarthy is currently serving as assistant deputy commandant for installations and logistics, Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.
