MAJOR GENERAL JOHN M. MILLER APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD

Effective today, Secretary of Defense William Perry has announced the designation of Air Force Reserve Maj. Gen. John M. Miller as a member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board. Miller currently serves as the mobilization assistant to the commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base,

The 24-member Reserve Forces Policy Board was created by Congress in 1952. Acting through the assistant secretary of defense for reserve affairs, the board serves as the principle policy advisor to the Secretary of Defense on reserve component matters. Members include the assistant secretary responsible for reserve affairs from each of the military departments, and active and reserve component general and flag officers representing all Services, including the Coast Guard.

The general entered the Air Force as a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School in 1964. He has more than 25 years experience at squadron, wing and major command level supporting airlift, rescue and weather reconnaissance missions. He is an FAA-certified pilot with more than 14,000 combined military and civilian flying hours. In addition, he is a certified airframe and powerplant mechanic with inspection authorization.

General Miller's decorations include more the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Reserve Medal with hourglass device and Humanitarian Service Medal.
