REAR ADMIRAL JOHN M. LUECKE APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD

Secretary of Defense William Perry has announced the designation of Rear Adm. John M. Luecke, U.S. Navy, as the Naval representative on the Reserve Forces Policy Board, retroactive to May 1, 1996. Luecke currently serves as the director, Strategy and Policy Division, in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

The 24-member board was created by Congress in 1952. Acting through the assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, the board serves as the principle policy advisor to the Secretary of Defense on reserve component matters. Members include the assistant secretary responsible for Reserve Affairs from each of the military departments, and active and reserve component general and flag officers representing all Services, including the Coast Guard.

Admiral Luecke started his career as a A-6 Intruder pilot flying with Attack Squadron 196 off the USS Saratoga. His career since has spanned more than 27 years and covered a variety of positions including aviation, staff, operations and command at all levels. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, four Meritorious Service Medals, 15 Air Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals with Combat 'V, and numerous other campaign and service medals.

Luecke and his wife, Margaret, have four children, Crystal, Coreen, John and Jim.
