Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Major General Carlton W. Fulford,
Jr., United States Marine Corps, for appointment to the grade of
lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, I Marine
Expeditionary Force. Since June 1995, he has served as the Vice
Director, Joint Staff.
Major General Fulford was born on May 11, 1944, in Newnan,
Georgia.
