GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the president has nominated Army Maj. Gen. James C. Riley for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, V Corps, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Heidelberg, Germany. Riley is currently serving as commanding general, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized) and Fort Stewart, Fort Stewart, Ga.
