GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. John R. Baker for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Baker is currently serving as assistant deputy chief of staff for air and space operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
