Description of Job Duty Competency to be Achieved

Provide an environment to successfully meet change, improve services to the nation, and develop our personnel.


Description of Need

The continuing development of our office supervisors in the area of leadership is a critical part of a good management development program. Vision and motivation, part of this development process, are essential for a healthy organization and must be rejuvenated on a regular basis to keep managers spiritually alert and progressive.


Specific Job Task Skills and Knowledge

In the Area of Vision

1. Identify deficiencies, recognize and anticipate opportunities, and develop solutions.

2. Develop realistic goals and milestones, and implement strategic plans.

3. Develop of external partnerships.

4. Implement BPS.

5. Serve as a change agent.

6. Foster career development.

In the Area of Motivation

1. Challenge, coach and motivate staff.

2. Negotiate and resolve conflict.

3. Practice ethical decision making.

4. Foster team environment.

5. Demonstrate empathetic listening skills.

6. Recognize and deal with differing personalities.

7. Use diversity principles.


Instructional Components

Instructional Component 1.1: Attend the Executive Leadership Seminar (ELS) at the NWSTC.


Proposed Evaluation

There is no formal evaluation component for this PCU other than successful completion of the ELS.
