Commissioner Moeller's statement on congratulates CAISO on the start-up of its New Market Design

“I wish to extend my hearty congratulations to the CAISO and its market participants on their successful transition to a new and improved market design. Though energy customers may not notice any immediate changes – thanks in part to the absence of any reliability problems during the transition – this new design brings great benefits to the region, including a more efficient and reliable use of the transmission grid, better signals for when and where to expand infrastructure, and a more intelligent grid. I applaud the CAISO and its market participants' accomplishment of such a large undertaking, and look forward to celebrating with them the benefits of these efforts over the years to come.”
