AUSTIN, Texas -- McCoy's Building Supply in Cleveland has joined the list of Texas retail outlets where teams of hazard mitigation specialists are available to answer questions residents may have about protecting their homes from future disaster damage, as well as other home improvement questions.

The specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be at McCoy's from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday through Feb. 7. The building supply is located at 1000 Highway 59 S.

McCoy's joins eight other Texas locations where mitigation specialists are currently available to explain flood- and wind-resistant building techniques, and offer advice on topics such as home elevation, safe rooms, wind straps, flood insurance and other measures to make homes stronger and safer. The teams, which are moving around throughout the area impact by Hurricane Ike, also offer publications on similar topics.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
