Nacogdoches Disaster Recovery Center To Close: FEMA Just A Call Away

AUSTIN, Texas -- As the FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center at the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex in Nacogdoches prepares to close, disaster recovery officials remind everyone that FEMA is always just a phone call or mouse click away.
The center is scheduled to complete its operations at close of business, Wednesday, Nov. 19. Until then, it remains open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday at the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex 203 West Main St., Nacogdoches, TX 75961.
"We are determined to make sure every Texan affected by Hurricane Ike gets all help possible," said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. "Even when the local recovery center demand drops enough that it closes, FEMA information is still available through the agency's 1-800-621-FEMA telephone number."
Residents can still apply or follow up on their applications by going online to www.fema.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Both numbers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice.
"While applying is the first step, you still should follow up on your application and continue to update your contact information," said Federal Coordinating Officer Sandy Coachman. "We urge applicants to follow through with their recovery process." she said.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
