Four Disaster Recovery Centers Opening In New Hampshire

Newington, N.H. -- State and federal officials will open four Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Concord, Manchester, Raymond and Rochester beginning Friday, June 2, to serve individuals, families and businesses impacted by the severe storms and flooding which took place beginning on May 12.

Persons who have suffered losses or damages as a result of the floods in Belknap, Carroll, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Rockingham and Strafford counties may go to any DRC to follow up on their registrations and receive information on available programs.

Disaster victims are urged to register for assistance before visiting a DRC by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech-or hearing-impaired.  Registration can also be done online at www.fema.gov

Those who have questions may visit with recovery specialists in person at any of the four centers. If a person cannot visit a DRC, follow-up assistance is still available by calling the toll-free Helpline number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

The hours for the centers are:

Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies will be on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information.  Officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be available to discuss disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes.  Written material about various assistance programs are also available to individuals and business owners.

The N.H. Bureau of Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating the state's emergency response to major natural and man made disasters.

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program.  FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
