New Director Of FEMA's Region I Appointed

Washington, D.C. -- Dan Craig, executive director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's eastern regional office, has been appointed director of Region I for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh announced today. FEMA's Region I is headquartered in Boston, Mass., and oversees agency operations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

"Dan comes to FEMA with knowledge of local communities that will make him very effective as my personal representative in FEMA's Region I," said Allbaugh. "He will be a valuable addition to the FEMA team."

In his Chamber of Commerce post, Craig was responsible for legislative, political, and media initiatives in New England and the Atlantic coast. Previously, he was a legislative representative for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in Arlington, Va. There he handled issues of federal emergencies, transportation, technology, privacy and energy. He also worked as a grassroots specialist for the organization. Earlier in his career, Craig worked as a campaign advisor, and political fundraiser and research analyst.

Craig holds a bachelor of art's degree in political science from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
