Lenexa, KS - Officials from the State of Kansas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a mobile disaster recovery center to assist individuals who were affected by the tornadoes and storms beginning May 4 and continuing. The center will be open in Douglas County from Wednesday, May 21 through Saturday, May 24.

The center will be located at:

Lawrence, KS 66047

Hours of operation for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
SATURDAY, MAY 24 OPEN 9-NOON
(NOTE: Open Wed. May 21 through Sat. May 24 ONLY)

The center will be manned with experts to answer questions and provide recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners.

Some disaster programs include housing and other needs assistance and low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Individuals who have been affected by the disaster are urged to start the application process before visiting the center by calling FEMA's toll-free number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Hearing and speech impaired individuals may call TTY at 1-800-462-7585.
