Parsons, KS -- City officials today finalized plans to assist the residents of Parsons with removal of debris that resulted from the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred on April 19th and 20th.

Glen Welden, Parsons City Manager announced that beginning on the morning of May 22nd, city crews will begin picking up all debris for home owners and renters.

"We ask that all debris be placed 'curbside' and organized by debris type," said Welden. "It will help us during the collection process for instance, if appliances are separated from lumber and furniture separated from bricks," he added.

The City crews will only make one pass by every residence. They will begin pick-ups starting on the south side of town and work north. "This removal project is a huge undertaking", said Welden, "and we ask for everyone to work within the established date for the collection."

While there is no limit on the amount an individual may place at curbside for pick-up, Welden emphasized that this free debris removal program is for individuals who need assistance to remove debris and IS NOT a method for hired contractors to dispose of debris.

If you have specific questions about the Debris Removal Schedule, please contact the Parsons City Manager at 421-7030.
