Columbia, MO -- FEMA Region VII, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, Premier Marketing Group, Central Electric Cooperative, and the National Weather Service joined in an "Electronic Ribbon Cutting" ceremony dedicating the installation of a 1000 watt NOAA weather transmitter in Columbia, Missouri on June 5, 2002. FEMA funded the transmitter through an Unmet Needs project under DR-1270. Premier Marketing Group provided the non-Federal match by donating tower space to the National Weather Service. This transmitter will provide advanced weather warnings to citizens in Boone, Callaway, Cole, Howard, Moniteau and Osage Counties in Missouri. The addition of this transmitter now provides the State of Missouri with nearly 100% coverage.
