Davenport, IA -- Time is getting short for residents of Scott , Clayton, and surrounding counties who wish to have a face-to-face meeting with state and federal recovery specialists to ask about available disaster assistance.

Through 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, residents in these counties can get answers to questions and check on the status of their applications at two Disaster Recovery Centers:

SCOTT COUNTY

CLAYTON COUNTY
Producer Financial Services (Next to Library)
102 Schiller Street
Guttenberg, Iowa

Even though the centers are closing, help is still available by calling the Helpline at 1-800-525-0321. To receive assistance, applicants must first register by calling toll-free 1-800-462-9029. Those who are hearing or speech-impaired can call 1-800-462-7585 to apply or to check on their applications. The telephone numbers are operational from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Disaster assistance programs include housing assistance, grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not covered by insurance or other programs, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration for flood-damaged residential and business property. Disaster unemployment assistance, tax assistance and other special services are also available to eligible persons affected by the disaster.
