Gen. Franks to Brief Today on Takur Ghar

Army Gen. Tommy Franks, commander, U.S. Central Command, will conduct a news briefing in Tampa today, Friday, May 24, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. EDT, with a two-way audio and video feed to the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781. Purpose of the briefing is to discuss the battle of Takur Ghar, which occurred on March 4, 2002, as part of Operation Anaconda.

About 15 minutes after the conclusion of Gen. Franks' briefing, a senior military official will be available in DoD Briefing Room to answer any remaining questions, on background, on the same subject.
