Army Brig. Gen. Joseph Cosumano, program manager for National Missile Defense (NMD), Joint Program Office, Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, will conduct a briefing for interested news media on Wednesday, July 2, 1997 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon (EDT) in room 2E781, the Pentagon. The briefing topic will be the June 23, 1997 first flight test of a sensor for the NMD program. The test, considered successful based upon preliminary data, involved the launching of a prototype sensor to track and identify target objects deployed by a missile launched from Vandenberg AFB, Calif.
