LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Baxter County will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) Thursday, May 1, federal and state disaster officials announced today.

The DLOC will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., closed Sunday at the following location:

Baxter County
Norfork City Hall
49 City Hall Circle
Norfork, AR  72658

The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the SBA opened the Baxter County DRC in Norfork April 8. The center has served 180 county residents and businesses with disaster recovery information.
SBA representatives at the DLOC will continue to provide Baxter County residents with personal assistance in completing their loan applications as well as answering questions about SBA's loan program and explaining how an SBA loan can help pay for disaster losses.

Low-interest disaster loans from SBA are available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, non-profit organizations.  Disaster loans from SBA are the primary source of funds for repairing and rebuilding disaster damaged private property.  So far, SBA has approved more than $1.2 million in low-interest disaster loans to Arkansas residents and businesses affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred in March and April.  These disaster loans cover uninsured and uncompensated losses and do not duplicate benefits of other agencies or organizations.

For questions regarding FEMA's disaster assistance program, call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or register online at www.fema.gov. The number for those with speech or hearing impairment is  1-800-462-7585.  Operators are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. At the SBA loan center, informational materials also will be available on FEMA's Individuals and Household program as well as FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Program.

Anyone not able to visit the DLOC should call SBA at 1-800-659-2955 or visit the SBA Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
