FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers and Helpline Closes for Thanksgiving Holiday

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today, that the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will close at noon on Wednesday, November 26, in preparation for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.

Operating hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. DRCs will resume operations on Friday, November 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further notice.

FEMA's Helpline will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It will reopen on Friday, and will continue operating from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week. The toll-free number is 1-800-621-3362; for the speech- or hearing-impaired the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585.

Individuals who suffered property damage or who had personal losses resulting from the September 21 - October 3, 2008 floods should call before the registration deadline, which is December 1, 2008. Registration is also available online at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
