James A. Pederson was appointed by Chairman Jon Wellinghoff to serve as Chief of Staff in March 2009. Since joining the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 1979, Mr. Pederson has served in several positions providing legal and policy advice on all areas of Commission regulation. He began his career at the Commission as a rate and certificate analyst, before becoming a trial attorney in the Office of the General Counsel in 1989. In 1994, Mr. Pederson became Deputy Director for the Division of Litigation in the Office of Markets, Tariffs and Rates. Then, in 1997, Mr. Pederson became Deputy Director of the Office of Policy, Technology and Planning in the Office of Markets, Tariffs and Rates. Prior to joining the Wellinghoff staff in August 2006, Mr. Pederson also served as a legal and policy advisor to several former Commissioners.
A native of Maryland, Mr. Pederson graduated, with honors, from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a B.A. in economics. He was awarded his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He has been married for 31 years and has two sons. » High Resolution Photo |
