Lyndon State College Meteorology

The Meteorology program at Lyndon has been in existence since 1974. It is well-respected and well-known throughout the country. Meteorology majors can work with our on-campus TV studio for live on-air experience, in conjunction with our national award-winning Television Studies department.

The department offers hands-on experience collecting and interpreting meteorological data. Approximately 80% of the meteorology classes meet in the lab, a lab with up-to-date hardware and software which has extended hours for students and is electronically available from the residence halls.

The basic core courses in the Bachelor of Science curriculum provide a firm foundation in all aspects of meteorology. Students then elect from the department’s five tracks to receive specialized preparation for their chosen meteorological career or graduate school.

Students may also participate in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program (AFROTC). Scholarships and leadership training are available, leading to a successful military career.
