Health, Public Education Departments Advise No Reason to Close Schools for Health Reasons Local Schools Districts to Decide How, When to Reopen 16 Closed Schools

(Santa Fe) – Based on new guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Public Education Department announced today that school closures in New Mexico are no longer necessary for health reasons. Local school districts will need to decide when and how to best reopen the 16 schools previously closed in Socorro, Deming, Carlsbad, Lordsburg and Veguita due to probable cases of H1N1. (Read More)

Health, Public Education Departments Close La Promesa Elementary School in Veguita, NM Department of Health Receives Confirmation on Socorro County Cases

(Santa Fe) – The New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Public Education Department announced today that La Promesa Elementary School in Belen Consolidated Schools will close May 5 through May 11 due to a probable case of H1N1 influenza. This is a probable case that the Department of Health is already investigating. The school is located in Veguita, New Mexico, south of the city of Belen in Socorro County. (Read More)

Departments of Health and Public Education Close All Public Schools in Socorro and Lordsburg School Districts, Carlsbad High School and Deming Intermediate

(Las Cruces) – The New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Public Education Department announced today that Carlsbad High School, Deming Intermediate School, all public schools in the Socorro Consolidated School District including Cottonwood Valley Charter School in Socorro and all public schools in the Lordsburg Municipal School District will close May 4 through May 10 due to probable cases of H1N1 influenza. Department of Health Reports First Confirmed H1N1 Influenza Case Case is 18-year-old Valencia County Male Who Has Recovered

(Santa Fe) – The New Mexico Department of Health Department announced today that New Mexico has its first confirmed H1N1 influenza case. The Department of Health received confirmation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this afternoon on New Mexico’s first probable case in an 18-year-old male from Valencia County. CDC also reported that the 1-year-old male from Santa Fe County did not have H1N1 flu. (Read More Spanish Version)
