What is the difference between a tsunameter and DART®?Tsunameter is a generic term for a device or system for the detection of tsunamis. DART® is a specific technology (Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis) that NOAA/NWS employs on its tsunameters. Because the purpose of the NOAA/NWS tsunameters is the real-time detection of tsunamis, NDBC considers the entire system that delivers the data to the Tsunami Warning Services as the tsunameter.
