We have adopted the same philosophy and general criteria commonly used in the selection of non-Internet Reference resources (American Library Association. Reference Collection Development and Evaluation Committee, 1992: 4) as guiding principles for the selection of World Wide Web (WWW) and other Internet resources for CyberStacks(sm). Among the features considered in the selection of items for CyberStacks(sm) are the following:

• Authority of the source
• Accuracy of information
• Clarity of presentation
• Uniqueness within the context of the total collection
• Recency/timeliness
• Favorable reviews
• Community needs
