Disabled Child

According to LANS/LANL regulations, any eligible disabled child over the age of 23 approved by the insurance plans will be categorized as child status. Approval must be obtained prior to the child's 23rd birthday. The member is responsible for obtaining necessary approval.

If you have a disabled child who is covered as your eligible dependent, you must take the following steps:

Step 1 Contact each of your child's insurance carriers.
Step 2 Obtain approval to continue your child's child status past the age of 23.
Step 3 Notify the Lab's Benefits Office by providing a copy of the approval letter(s).
