Welcome to the District Library, USACE Galveston, Texas. Founded in
1945, the library currently provides a range of services to
Galveston District employees, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the general
public. Subject interests of the library include civil engineering, dredging,
ecology, environmental resources, flood control, flood plain studies,
navigation, shoreline studies, soil mechanics, and water resources. Located in
Room 308 of the Jadwin Building, the library is available to the public through
special arrangement made by calling the Public Affairs Office at (409)
766-3004.
The Galveston District Library provides service as part of the
USACE Library Program.
Holdings and Services
The library houses materials including design memoranda, environmental impact
statements, archeological reports, and sets of Army and USACE regulations.
Special collections consist of Annual Reports of the Chief of Engineers 1871-present, and Congressional Documents 1900-present.
Holdings of the library and other USACE Libraries are available for searching through the
CELIO Online Catalog. Other information services available
to District employees include interlibrary loan and databases such as Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts, Ei Compendex Plus
(Engineering Index), IHS International Standards and Specifications, Fluidex,
Water Resources Abstracts, Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management, and
Management Contents. The library also maintains subscriptions to the CFR on
CD and OPM's Human Resources CD.
