Utah State Archives
The Utah State Archives and Records Service, a division within the Dept. of Administrative Services, manages records created by state and local governmental entities in Utah, and provides access to historical government records which are in our permanent collection. Historical records commonly used include death certificates, land records, legislative bills, mining claims, and incorporation records. The earliest records go back to 1850. To provide easier access to these records, a catalog, name index, and series inventory list are available, along with other research guides by subject. Some records have been scanned as part of our digital collection.
Part of our responsibilities include assisting governmental entities with their records management duties, including electronic records. We help them create and follow retention schedules, and also provide records center and micrographics services.
