Virus Isolation: Mosquito Inoculation

This slide shows inoculation of the mosquito Toxorhynchites amboinensis with a patient's serum sample. After 10 days of incubation at 30°C, the mosquito is sacrificed and the virus, if present, is detected by fluorescent antibody testing of the head.
