P.O. Box 12233Mail Drop A2-12 Research Triangle Park, North Carolina 27709 Delivery Instructions Scott S.Auerbach, Ph.D., is an IRTA postdoctoral fellow in the Toxicology Branch. He serves a dual role as a study scientist that designs and interprets guideline toxicity studies and as a toxicogenomicist. As a member of the Toxicology Branch, his primary responsibilities are to serve as a leader of Project Review Teams that develop research/testing plans for specific chemicals and to prepare technical reports based on the results of research/testing for presentation to the Technical Reports Committee of the NTP Board of Scientific Counselors. His area of specialization is in the application of toxicogenomics to hazard characterization. Auerbach is currently involved in the creation of gene expression-based predictive models and the identification of genetic determinants of chemical induced cardiotoxicity. He has spent a large fraction of his research career studying the molecular pharmacology of nuclear receptors, in particular with respect to their role in the regulation of hepatic gene expression. In addition, he has trained in human genetics and was involved in the identification of genetic determinants of human pulmonary fibrosis. Auerbach is also an adjunct with the Host Susceptibility Branch (HSB). As a member of HSB, he performs genetic and toxicogenomic analyses and interpretation. He has a particular interest in understanding how differential susceptibility to toxicity and carcinogenesis manifests at the functional genomic level. Auerbach received a B.S. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Penn State University, State College, Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. |
