NEW! Federal Government Seeks Public Comment on Issues Related to the Implementation of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act signed into law in October 2008 consolidated longstanding efforts at the national and state level to establish parity between employer-based health coverage for mental health/substance abuse conditions and physical health disorders. The three federal government agencies principally responsible for implementing this law–the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service–have issued a request in the Federal Register seeking information and advice from the public addressing critical issues regarding the best ways to implement the law and fulfill its objectives. This includes issues related to efficiency and cost-effectiveness, as well as information that would be helpful in the development of regulations needed to implement the law.

NEW! National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day - May 7, 2009
National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is a day for everyone to promote positive youth development, resilience, recovery, and the transformation of mental health services delivery for children and youth with serious mental health needs and their families.
The theme for this year's national event is Thriving in the Community, with a special emphasis on how high school youth who receive the services they need are more likely to have positive outcomes, such as better grades, and less likely to have negative outcomes, such as involvement with the juvenile and criminal justice systems.
