Lake Erie Hypoxia and HABs: the IFYLE Program and BeyondCo-Chairs: Stuart Ludsin and Robert Heath Stuart Ludsin NOAA-GLERL, 4840 S. State Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105 USA; Phone: 734-741-2355; Fax: 734-741-2055; E-mail: Robert Heath, Department of Biological Sciences, Kent State University, Kent, OH 44242 USA; Phone: 330-672-7828; Fax: 330-672-4834; E-mail: During 2005, the integrative, multidisciplinary International Field Years on Lake Erie (IFYLE) research program was initiated. This program had three foci: 1) to identify the causes of hypoxia; 2) to identify the ecological consequences of hypoxia; and 3) to understand and forecast formation of harmful algal blooms (HABs). We seek hypoxia- or HABs-related presentations from IFYLE participants, and non-IFYLE participants alike, so that we can extend our understanding of these two issues in the Great Lakes.
