Army Reserve Soldiers back home in Wiesbaden after 400 days of deployment

(Photo by Karl Weisel)WIESBADEN, Germany (May 9, 2009) -- Soldiers of the 209th Army Liaison Team wrapped up their tour of duty in Iraq as they were welcomed home here, May 5. The 26th U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers provided support and augmentation to Multi-National Corps – Iraq during their deployment. An element of the Kaiserslautern-based 7th Civil Support Command, the 209th deployed for 400 days, including its pre-deployment and post-deployment.     MORE

times, good times of unit’s third tour in Iraq

Evan Loyd)BAGHDAD, Iraq (May 9, 2009) -- The “surge” of five additional brigades into Iraq was announced in January 2007, and Soldier deployments grew from 12 to 15 months. Since then, coalition and Iraqi forces and local citizens have seen Iraq rebuilding and communities becoming safe to live and work in once again. Today deployments are once again 12 months. The 2nd “Iron” Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division is one of the last brigades, if not the last, in Iraq to be deployed past 12 months.  ... MORE
