Cerebellar ataxia

Cerebellar ataxia refers to a condition in which the nerve cells in the cerebellum are lost, damaged, or degenerate resulting in loss of muscle control and coordination. Diseases that damage the spinal cord and peripheral nerves that connect the cerebellum to one's muscles may also cause ataxia. Cerebellar ataxia may have either genetic or non-genetic causes. Treatment is based on the specific cause.[1]
