ADDENDUM – INSTITUTIONAL CLINICAL ONCOLOGY CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (PAR-03-083) RELEASE DATE: February 27, 2004 NOTICE: NOT-CA-04-008 National Cancer Institute (NCI) (http://www.nci.nih.gov) This addendum is to inform potential applicants of a change in the expiration date of PAR-03-083 titled “Institutional Clinical Oncology Career Development (K12) Program." The change is as follows: The previously announced expiration date of April 1, 2005 is being changed to April 1, 2004. The reason for this change is that PAR-03-083 is being replaced by a revised PA titled “Paul Calabresi Award in Clinical Oncology” with a receipt date of June 1, 2004. The new PA will be issued in the near future. The NCI has named this award in honor of the late Dr. Paul Calabresi, who was a pioneer in the pharmacological treatment of cancer and early translational research. The overall career development objectives of PAR-03-083 remain unchanged. However, the scope of PAR-03-083 is extended by additionally supporting programs involving clinicians AND basic scientists. The PAR also extends the allowable costs to include up to 10 percent of the Principal Investigator/Program Leader’s salary plus fringe benefits, some partial salary plus fringe benefits for a dedicated administrator, up to $5,000 total per annum for each mentor, and minimal costs for advertising and recruitment. These were costs were not allowable under PAR-03-083. Finally, allowable direct costs have been increased to $800,000 annually for programs that train only clinicians. Allowable direct costs for programs training clinicians and basic scientists are up to $1,100,000 annually. INQUIRIES Inquiries regarding this notice may be directed to: Lester S.
