Mission

We apply our geological expertise to:

• evaluate Engineered Barrier Systems for Yucca Mountain,
• coordinate field testing at Yucca Mountain,
• monitor fault activity near DOE nuclear sites,
• and study the potential effects of a volcanic eruption at Yucca Mountain

Our work also supports a number of additional EES programs, including the LANL Environmental Restoration (ER) Project, Nevada Test Site (NTS)-ER, and the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

Goal

We help conceive, predict, plan, and implement underground and surface geological tests, system installations, and field experiments.

We also characterize systems and develop data and conceptual models of geological system
