Lynn Austin, PhD
Chief Management Officer, Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response
Dr. Austin has been with the federal government for over 32 years, including experience at EPA and OSHA and has been at CDC since 1988. With CDC, she has served as the Chief of Staff to the CDC Director from 2005 to 2008, where she managed day-to-day operations of the Director′s inner office.
In addition, Dr. Austin has served as the Associate Director, Enterprise Program Services, CCHIS, Coordinator, 2008 Leaders to Leaders Conference; Lead, Business Transformation/Change Management, FMO Unified Financial Management System Implementation; Deputy Director, Division of Adolescent and School Health, NCCDPHP; Associate Director for Management Operations, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP); and Assistant Director, Policy, Planning, and Partnerships, DHAP.
Dr. Austin earned a PhD in public policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology in August 2000, where she was selected as the Georgia Tech Doctoral Student of the Year. She earned a master′s degree in public administration from Georgia State in 1980, and her BS magna cum laude in education and management from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, in 1977.
She is a member of the Senior Executive Association (SEA), CDC Watsonian Society, Federal Manager′s Association (FMA), Association of Professional Women (APW), and Alpha Chi National Honor Society.
