The NORA Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Sector Council finalized this version of the National Agenda after considering public comments on the previous draft.
The Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing sector comprises establishments primarily engaged in growing crops, raising animals, harvesting timber, and harvesting fish and other animals on a farm, ranch, or from their natural habitats. More than a million paid workers were estimated to be in this sector in 2005. The National Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Agenda consists of three strategic goals relevant to the whole sector. They are focused on surveillance; vulnerable populations; and outreach, communications and partnerships. In addition, six strategic goals are designed to address top safety and health problems in each of the three subsectors. Strategic goals have intermediate goals and action steps to describe the activities needed to achieve the strategic goal. Many of the goals include performance measures. This written plan should focus research and intervention efforts.
Comments are always welcome; they will be considered in future updates of this agenda. Offers from individuals and organizations to help accomplish the goals through partnerships are of particular interest to the Council. You may submit correspondence by email to noracoordinator@cdc.gov.
