Box 12233 Mail Drop F0-04 Research Triangle Park, North Carolina 27709 As director of Protein Microcharacterization for intramural researchers at NIEHS, Jason Williams, Ph.D., oversees the day-to-day operations of the facility, managing fiscal and human resources, establishing workflows and priorities, and also spending time at the laboratory bench and at the mass spectrometers. He also serves as a mass spectrometry resource for users of the facility and the NIEHS community as a whole. As time allows, Williams also maintains a research interest focused on value-added application development. He is particularly interested in the development of affinity and mass spectrometric approaches to aid in the identification of sites of in vivo and in vitro posttranslational modifications on proteins. Williams received his B.S. degree in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee in 1996 and earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry and biophysics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001, working in the laboratory of Sharon Campbell, Ph.D. After obtaining his doctorate, Williams accepted an Intramural Research Fellowship at the NIEHS in the Laboratory of Structural Biology under the direction of Kenneth Tomer, Ph.D., and eventually became a Staff Scientist and director of the PMCF in November 2004. |
