The only facility in the U.S. devoted to Hansen's disease (leprosy), the National Hansen's Disease (Leprosy) Clinical Center at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana provides inpatient and outpatient care and is a referral and consultation center for people with Hansen's disease (leprosy) and their health care providers across the U.S.

Nationwide Services
- Consultation for
physician-referred patients with eye problems and those in need of reconstructive hand or foot surgery.
- Pharmacy for local patients and people across the U.S. who receive their Hansen's disease (leprosy) prescription medications by mail, but are treated by private physicians where they live.
The Clinical Center Pharmacy also provides consultation on Hansen's disease (leprosy) medications, patient records review, medications evaluation, training, and research.
- Laboratory pathologic review of biopsy specimens and pathology reports, at no charge, to physicians requesting tissue examination. In special circumstances, the Ochsner Center Lab offers consultation concerning polymerase chain reaction for M . leprae.
Inpatient/Outpatient Services
The Clinical Center has been accredited as a Long Term Care facility since 1990 by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
- Hospital care for acutely ill people with Hansen's disease (leprosy) in 31 bed unit with 24-hour nursing care for short-term and long-term treatment.
- Surgical care for those referred for hand or foot reconstruction.
- Ambulatory care for local patients and consultation and treatment follow-up for ambulatory patients from across the U.S.
