MHN Government Services is seeking independently licensed practitioners to fill Military & Family Life Consultant roles

MHN Government Services, as a behavioral health subcontractor for the Department of Defense, launched the Military & Family Life Consultant program in 2004. Military & Family Life Consultants (MFLCs) provide informal, solution-oriented support to Service Members and their families.

Through this program we send consultants on assignments to military installations throughout the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii, Europe and the Pacific Rim.

This is an important, worthwhile program. Practitioners who participate in the MFLC network find the work extremely rewarding.

In the coming months MHN GS will be challenged with increased demand for Military and Family Life Consultants in a variety of roles, involving practitioner time commitments from 2 days to 6 months.

Click the MHN GS logo below to access specific information about opportunities available to independently licensed clinicians through the Military & Family Life Consultant program.

AMHCA gives you the knowledge, support and recognition you need for professional success.

Abused Women Want Respect From Healthcare Providers
Women who suffer intimate partner violence (IPV) are very aware that the abuse is related to mental and physical symptoms, and they want their healthcare providers not to dismiss symptoms of depression and pain purely because they are IPV survivors. A recent study concluded that health providers can demonstrate their sensitivity about IPV issues by ensuring that an appropriate preface takes place before the discussion of violence can begin.

Depression Linked to Cardiac Death in Women Without Known Heart Disease
New data show that relatively healthy women with severe depression are at increased risk of cardiac events, including sudden cardiac death and fatal coronary heart disease. Women with clinical depression were more than twice as likely to experience sudden cardiac death. Surprisingly, this risk was associated more strongly with antidepressant use than with depressive symptoms. The research was based on a study of nearly 64,000 women.
