Environmental Safety Officer

 

Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $60,989 - $113,007
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area

 

The Environmental Safety Officer (ESO) is responsible for supporting the CIA's environmental safety program at Agency facilities. The incumbent serves as a technical expert and as required, a program manager. ESO responsibilities include coordination of all environmental, safety and health (ES&H) compliance programs at the location of assignment. ESO responsibilities also require the incumbent to: conduct environmental safety and health (ES&H) inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards and prevailing professional practices, provide ES&H training for Agency employees, investigate ES&H incidents to ensure that action is taken to correct deficiencies or violations of standards, investigate employee complaints and suggestions regarding hazardous conditions, maintain site ES&H records, managing support contracts, and interface with Federal, state and local regulatory officials. 


Minimum Qualifications:

a B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Occupational Safety and Health, Fire Protection Engineering or a related field. All candidates must possess excellent verbal, quantitative, and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
