The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) Advisory Council will
meet on Friday, June 2, 2000 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Club at
Heritage Harbor. The venue is adjacent to the bike path, overlooking Monterey
Harbor. The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council was
established by Federal law to assure continued public participation in
the management of the Sanctuary. Its nineteen voting members represent
a variety of local user groups, as well as the general public, plus seven
local, State and Federal governmental jurisdictions. In addition, the
respective managers for the four California National Marine Sanctuaries
(Channel Islands NMS, Cordell Bank NMS, Gulf of the Farallones NMS, and
the Monterey Bay NMS) and the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research
Reserve sit as non-voting members. The Advisory Council meets regularly
and is based at the Sanctuary office at 299 Foam Street in Monterey. The
meetings are open to the public.
