Draft Guidance Manual Available for Review

Image showing somethingThe National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center and NOAA Restoration Center are developing a guidance manual with recommendations, background information, case studies, tools, and resources to support and improve planning and implementation of tidal hydrology restoration in the southeastern United States. The guidance manual is the result of expressed need in the region for increased information sharing among tidal hydrology restoration practitioners and experts to increase efficiency and to enhance the science surrounding the discipline.

The NOAA team is seeking comments on the draft guidance manual from the restoration community by November 14, 2008.The manual includes chapter narratives, a toolkit, and case studies for the southeast.

Guidance Manual: Chapter Narratives [Word Document - 605 KB]
Chapter narratives include information on project identification and planning, goals and objectives, design, permitting, construction and maintenance, evaluation and monitoring, and community involvement.

Guidance Manual: Toolkit [PDF - 570 KB]
Toolkit includes recommendations, sample checklists and templates, contact information for agencies and organizations, and project document examples.

Guidance Manual: Case Study Toolkit
The following case studies are example tidal hydrology restoration projects, mostly from the southeastern U.S., that can be referred to for information on all phases of restoration.  They include a project summary (.xls), as well as project materials, such as Statements of Work, budgets, and press releases.
